On Monday, May 11, 2026, MFS Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse Goalkeeper Amiya Sant ’26 achieved her five hundreth career save in a game against New Egypt High School.
MFS community members, fans, and Sant’s family gathered at the game to cheer on the Foxes and Sant, carrying signs that spelled out “500” to represent her number of saves and celebrate the milestone.
Although the Foxes lost 1-14 against New Egypt, Sant was ecstatic, but also described feeling nervous about reaching 500 saves in the first place.
“My initial reaction to 500 saves was excitement and relief, and I was so nervous about blocking all the shots due to my family being there, and I just desperately wanted to reach this in front of this crowd,” she said.
Sant credits her ability to stay calm under pressure and her skills to her success as a goalie.
“What’s helped me become successful is proper communication with my teammates. Being able to chill and relax as a goalie is key for me, and [understanding] that the game isn’t completely on me: it’s a team effort,” she said.
Sant’s outgoing and supportive personality makes her an excellent teammate and mentor, and she loves supporting younger players and helping them grow.
“She’s extremely uplifting, and as someone who started lacrosse this year, she’s made my overall experience better by being very welcoming,” said Anshi Reddy ’28.
Sant attributes her success in her early years of lacrosse to peers who supported her and helped her develop as a player, and she seeks to reflect this to younger players to increase their confidence.
“She’s a great voice on and off the field, and [she] encourages us to push ourselves individually and do things we never thought we could do, which makes her such a valuable mentor,” said Audrey Crossley ’29.
Sant has had a consistent progression of saves, starting at 176 her sophomore year, 197 her junior year, and finally 175 her senior year, totalling 548 career saves.
Sant has been a valuable goalie for the Foxes, who have had a difficult season.
Sant takes pride in giving younger players support.
When asked what advice she would give to them, Sant said, “Taking deep breaths, shaking off any errors, and confidence will carry you far. Communicate with your team so they know how to help and support you and vice versa.”
