Intro: Joey’s season is almost over — only six women remained at the beginning of the episode. It’s also the last week before Hometowns, meaning Joey goes home and meets the final four families. With only a week until Hometowns, all women have received a one-on-one, meaning that this episode will be a battle for who gets the two one-on-one dates and a rose.
One-on-One Number One: The first one-on-one date in Alberta, Canada is for Daisy. This one date with Daisy means a lot; she was the first person to get two one-on-ones which showed that Joey is excited about her, but Daisy is the only woman out of the six who hasn’t said some variation of “I’m falling in love with you.” Joey was looking to hear something like this before meeting her family. Joey and Daisy rode through the countryside on horses, then went in a portable hot tub outside. I thought the date was cute, and it’s obvious that there’s a connection between the two and that she will make it to Hometowns. As we get further and further into the season, I get more confident in my initial opinion at the beginning of the season that Daisy will win Joey’s heart at the end. During the dinner portion of the date, Daisy revealed to Joey that she isn’t falling in love with him, but can see herself falling for him in the future. This is not what Joey wanted to hear and you could see it on his disappointed face. Despite this, Joey still gave her a rose, securing her a Hometown.
Group Date: It’s now time for the group date with the four women, and it’s a lumberjack competition. I’m glad this date is more lighthearted with all of the stress that happened during this week. They do things like move and chop wood and also do obstacle courses. The weirdest part of this date was the elk milk jugging competition, and it was extremely gross to watch. During the afterparty, Maria cried to a producer about how she hates how she can’t officially call Joey hers and how she doesn’t feel comfortable letting Joey meet her family if he still likes other women. News flash for Maria: none of the other women want to share Joey, and they don’t cry to the producers. There are campaigns supporting Maria for Bachelorette, but after tonight’s behavior, I hope everyone can see her immaturity.
One-on-One Number Two: The last date before Hometowns went to Kelsey A. Kelsey A might not get the most screen time; however, she’s a silent but deadly contender, and I can see her in the top two because it’s obvious that Joey feels pulled towards her. This date was a date where Joey and Kelsey A go take a plunge in cold water, then warm back up in a sauna. Joey and Kelsey talk about her family during the dinner portion of the date and how much Kelsey wants Joey to meet her father. After sharing that, Joey rewards her with a rose, securing her a Hometown date.
Eliminations: Joey decided to cancel the cocktail party, which meant that we went straight to the rose ceremony. There were six women (Maria, Kelsey T, Kelsey A, Rachel, Daisy, and Jenn) and two of them had roses from the outset, (Daisy and Kelsey A) so only two more roses were up for grabs for a hometown date. The first rose went to Rachel, and the second went to Maria, meaning Kelsey T and Jenn were sent back to their hometown (but not with Joey).
Kelsey T and Jenn are headed home, but it’s fine because we’ll probably see them on “Bachelor in Paradise.”
“The Bachelor” airs on Monday nights at 8:00 pm EST on ABC
