After months of cryptic social media posts, Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR finally released their latest album, Some Sexy Songs 4 U, on February 14, 2025. The Valentine’s Day release correlates with the song’s lingering themes of love, heartbreak, and late-night “shower thoughts.” The album sticks to Drake’s signature sound of blending R&B with trap beats while introducing up-and-coming artists and already-established collaborations.
The album, which features 21 tracks and artists such as Yebba, Chino Pacas, and Pim, has a total run time of 73 minutes. For the production of Some Sexy Songs 4 U, Drake teamed up with his “go-to” producers, Noel Cadastre, Gordo, and Jordan Ullman, to craft his usual moody, late-night vibes that match the album’s ongoing themes.
Kicking off with “CN Tower,” Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR created a slow and melodic electronic bass introduction before using some of Drake’s vocals as the album’s first lyrics. Drake’s voice floats over the instrumental as he sings, “The city is pretty when it’s dead, just like a flower.” The introduction of this line, combined with the haunting nature of PARTYNEXTDOOR’s background vocals, makes the track immediately feel like a heartbreak, cinematic but deeply personal.
“CN Tower” sets the tone for “Some Sexy Songs 4 U” as Drake describes one of his heartbreaks, reflecting on the lost love and lingering pain of a breakup. After the first few seconds, the beat immediately gets stripped down, allowing the lyrics to impact the listener significantly. PARTYNEXTDOOR’s vocals weave in and out, bringing back that nostalgic, 2013 Drake vibe—the same moody, emotional energy that made the album Nothing Was the Same the masterpiece it is.
This album’s most moody and inspirational song is “Something About You.” Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s soft and hypnotic beat, combined with an R&B flow, creates a mystical attitude throughout the song, bringing back Drake’s LoverBoy era. The chorus provides a catchy melody that sticks with you and balances a mix of longing and love. It’s a song you repeat and don’t even realize.
Some Sexy Songs 4 U delivers precisely what it promises. This isn’t an album full of hype tracks or rap battles, like much of Drake’s previous work. Instead, it’s a collection of late-night, emotional anthems for reminiscing, reconnecting, or texting someone you probably shouldn’t. This might not be your thing if you’re here for bars or rap melodies, but this album is worth your time if you want moody production, introspective lyrics, and seamless collaborations.

After many re-listens, I would have to rate this album a 9.1 out of 10, which fits my taste for “late-night drive” songs. Drake keeps proving he knows how to make music that feels personal, and this album is no exception. I recommend it to anyone looking for a nostalgic Drake album that combines his original R&B style with lyrics that convey a personal story. As time passes, I am sure this album will be recognized as one of the best Drake albums in recent years.
