In order to expand the foundational skills of their middle and high school athletes, Moorestown Friends School is introducing a new summer basketball program offered by Nike U.S. sports camps.
These camps take place around the country for many different sports and are coached by specific professionals through Nike, Inc. MFS’s new Athletic Director, Isaiah Coleman utilized his personal connections and relationships with athletic professionals in the local area to bring this program to the MFS community.
Coleman shared that the goal of the new summer program is to “bring more attention to Moorestown Friends School for families and students outside of this community who can come onto campus to see what we offer, see our facilities, and get excited about potentially wanting to play here in the future and be a part of our community.”
This camp is offered for all athletes from eight to 18 years of age who wish to improve their basketball skills, and players of all skill levels are invited to work on their game. The entire Nike basketball program hosts many types of camps in different places, such as day camps, overnight camps, shooting camps, pro player camps, intro to hoops camps, international camps, and high-intensity basketball camps.
The US Nike Sports Camp will run the day basketball camps, which is directed by Basketball Director Randy Brolo. The camp will take place next summer from July 28 through August 1, 2025. Coleman said, “The coach [Randy Brolo] from Mercer County is very involved in the basketball world up north, who also happens to be related to our assistant Boys’ Varsity Basketball coach.”
“He [Randy Brolo] is trying to bring the first-ever Nike Basketball camp down to Burlington County. There has never been another school in the county of Burlington that has hosted a Nike basketball camp, and we look to be [the first] school,” said Coleman.
Assistant Athletic Director Bryan Wright mentioned that the “camp is offered in other schools in New Jersey north and south of us, but having our school as a new location will be very beneficial for our basketball program in the future.”
Current athletes are very appreciative of integrating more programs into the overall athletic curriculum.
“I think it is a great opportunity for players to improve during the offseason and learn more skills to better our team for the next season. I think this will help our team come into the season more prepared to succeed with having more time on the court and experience with more people,” said varsity basketball athlete Benjamin Buchdahl ’26.
“If you are anywhere in the South Jersey area, you’re more than welcome to be here for the camp, regardless of where you go to school,” said Coleman.
