Gabe Csapo, the new manager of the Sage Dining program at MFS, brings an energetic and supportive spirit to the school’s food service. Taking over the position of former Food Service Director Chef Tim, Csapo has already made his mark with fresh ideas and a change in the flow of dining program operations.
Csapo is described as “outgoing” and “attentive to everyone’s needs” as a coworker, according to Chef Andrea. He is willing to go the extra mile to ensure both his team and the students have the best experience possible, and his nature has allowed the team to work harmoniously and meet new goals under his leadership.
According to Chloe Marshall ’26, his changes to the program are evident, from meal preparation to service quality. By focusing on providing fresh, cooked-to-order meals, Csapo has prioritized offering an enjoyable dining experience which, according to him, has proved successful as shown by the long line for General Tso’s and the Nacho Bar.
Before becoming the head chef at MFS, Csapo had experience in the food industry. Before joining the MFS staff, he worked at the Hun School in Princeton as a Food Service Director for a decade, where he was known for his dedication to quality food service. With Sage, Csapo gained expertise by traveling as part of their culinary support team before he joined MFS. This experience gave him a broad perspective on managing school food programs, which he has brought to MFS.
In addition to more diverse and appealing meal options, Csapo is passionate about enhancing the overall beverage program to provide popular brands and choices for students, like Arizona drinks. In addition to Csapo’s plans for improving beverage options, he is committed to implementing new recycling and composting initiatives to reduce waste and educate the school community on sustainable practices. Csapo also highlighted his mission to implement student feedback, regularly encouraging students to use the program’s app (Touch Of SAGE) to share their meal preferences.
Under Csapo’s new leadership, the Sage Dining program at MFS is evolving in menu and structure. The variety of meals has increased under his leadership, emphasizing fresh and innovative dishes that keep both the kitchen staff and students satisfied with their meals.
“It’s more exciting for us when we can create more, like different burgers, sandwiches, and wraps, instead of doing the same thing every day,” Csapo explained.
