As the idea of this year’s senior spring athletes losing their final season comes closer to being a reality, WordsWorth will be recognizing these athletes’ careers at MFS in each of their respective spring sports. For the next few weeks, a different spring athlete’s “trading card” will be posted onto our social media pages and website, highlighting their spring athletic careers at MFS.
#8 Jack Bader – Boys Lacrosse – Offensive-Middie

Jack Bader has been a vital member of the boys varsity lacrosse team for the last four years. During his time on the team, Bader has scored 8 goals and 51 ground balls. Bader’s most memorable moment came during the 2018-19 season when he scored a hat trick in the team’s first win of the season. In the fall, he will be attending the University of Richmond to study mathematical economics with a concentration in finance. His advice to younger players is to “always have a stick in your hand. Whether it’s hitting a wall, passing with a friend, splitting dodging in the house, or shooting on the net, just keep practicing the fundamentals, and the rest of the game should come easily.”
#4 Mark Johnson – Baseball – Shortstop/Pitcher

Mark Johnson has been a member of the MFS varsity baseball team for the past four years. During his time on the team, Johnson had a .239 batting average and recorded 31 strikeouts in 42.4 innings pitched. Johnson’s favorite memory was the team’s trip to Myrtle Beach during his sophomore year. Following high school, Johnson hopes to walk on to his college’s cross country and track team. His advice to younger players is:“Identify your personal goals to improve as a player and work towards those goals 30 minutes per day.”
#32 Bella Runyan – Girls Lacrosse – Midfield

For the past four years, Bella Runyan has been a force to be reckoned with on the lacrosse field. She has recorded 135 goals, 86 ground balls, and 39 assists during her career. Her favorite memory was the team’s comeback win against Woodstown in the 2019 Sectional Semi-Finals. In the fall, Runyan will be playing basketball for Villanova University and studying nursing. Her advice to younger players is to “play more than one sport! And, have fun representing your school with your teammates.”
#7 Alex Boller – Baseball – Catcher/First Base

A four year varsity player for the MFS Baseball team, Alex Boller has been able to consistently impact the team, most recently earning a .375 batting average during the 2019 season. One of Boller’s favorite moments came during his sophomore year, when the team beat inter-league rival Westtown, away, in extra innings. His advice to younger players is to “cherish every moment like it is your last, and don’t be afraid of failure.” Boller will be attending the University of Maryland and studying kinesiology following graduation.
#34 Cory Dennis – Boys Lacrosse – Attack

Cory Dennis has been a leader for the Foxes’ varsity lacrosse team for four years. Dennis has made the most of his time on the field, netting 7 goals and picking up 18 ground balls. A selfless player, Dennis’ favorite memory is watching former teammate Blaize Nyzio (’18) speed past opposing defenders. Next year, Dennis will be playing basketball at Bard College and studying economics and finance. His advice to younger players is to “play every game like it’s your last and enjoy all the small things of the sport. That’s what you will always remember.”
#00 Lizzie Carter – Girls Lacrosse – Goalie
Lizzie Carter has been the varsity girls lacrosse team’s goalie for the past four years. During her time as goalie, she has recorded 419 saves. Reflecting on her time on the team, she cites the Foxes’ beating Pennington two years in a row and being “Lax goalie 1 up the field” as some of her favorite memories. In the fall, Carter will be attending the University of Delaware to study nursing. Her advice to younger players is: “If you’re considering being a part of a sport, whether it be playing or managing, DO IT!! There are so many great things to learn from being a part of a team, and you will have a lot of fun along the way.”
#21 Alden Burke – Boys Lacrosse – Midfield
As a member of the boys’ varsity lacrosse team for the past 4 years, Alden Burke has been a consistent presence on the field. During his junior season, Burke recorded 2 goals and picked up a staggering 23 ground balls. Burke’s favorite memory came during the 2019 season, as the Foxes beat interleague rival George School in overtime. After graduating this spring, Burke will be attending Towson University to study sports marketing/media. His advice to younger players is: “Don’t think too much when you are out on the field [and] just have fun playing the game. If you’re not having fun, then you shouldn’t be playing.”
Anthony Carrano – Boys Tennis – 1st Doubles
As a two year member of the boys varsity tennis team, Anthony Carrano earned 5 doubles wins and 3 singles wins. One moment that stood out for Carrano was going to the Burlington County Open and having the opportunity to see his friends from other schools competing as well. His advice to younger players is: “Don’t quit your sport in the fall and then be surprised when you’re not as good in the spring.” Carrano will attend the University of California, Santa Barbara following graduation.
#15 Alex Kinsey – Girls Lacrosse – Midfield/Attack
Alex Kinsey has spent the past two seasons on the MFS girls varsity lacrosse team. One of Kinsey’s favorite moments came during the team’s 2019 section final run. The team embraced being referred to as the “dark horses” of the tournament and all put on dark horse tattoos prior to the sectional finals championship match. In college, Kinsey will study neuroscience. Her advice to younger players is: “Make the most of your seasons, and have fun because they will be over before you know it.”
