Many new faces were added to the Moorestown Friends faculty this year, and Roy Wilson was among one of the new math department members. Wilson has gained a lot of teaching experience over the past thirteen years, including two years at Blair Academy and two years at Cushing Academy. Along with being a teacher, Wilson has a passion for sports, and previously was a Track and Field coach. Similar to other teachers, Wilson does have another subject in which he is interested. He said he would love to teach physics, chemistry, or anything science-related besides biology.
When asked when he knew he wanted to be a teacher, Wilson gave a surprising answer: “I never knew. I kind of just landed into it. It’s one of those looking for a job kind of things and it worked out the way it did.”
Even though he did not always know that he wanted to be a teacher, he really enjoys working with students. When asked how long he wanted to continue a career in teaching, Wilson responded, “As long as I enjoy it.”
As the rest of the school year carries on, teachers have many expectations for the rest of the year. Wilson strives to be a successful math teacher. He wants to teach his students effectively and with lots of ambition. Although Wilson is an outgoing person, in the classroom, he is focused on teaching his students. However, Wilson’s classroom is not always serious: “There are a lot of funny moments [in class].”
