Moorestown Friends and much of the surrounding area was without power for more than 2 hours Wednesday as a Nor’easter dumped inches of snow on the area.
PSE&G’s live outages map showed numerous locations without power beginning around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. By 6:30 p.m., most of the surrounding residences and the Moorestown Friends School campus had power restored.
Director of Marketing and Communications Mike Schlotterbeck confirmed the that the power has been restored to campus. It was announced just after 7:00 p.m. that Moorestown Friends School would be closed on Thursday, March 8.
Head of School Larry Van Meter, who usually makes the final decision for snow day calls, is out of town with other Moorestown Friends administrators at the National Association of Independent Schools Conference.

“Director of Development Steve Zakroff is the point person right now…coordinating everything and making a decision on school,” said Schlotterbeck. He added that Director of Finance and Operations Lisa Carbone Warren has arrived back in town from a different conference and will assist Zakroff.
Head of Maintenance Larry Brandimarto and his team are on campus clearing the snow, which is both heavy and wet. “It’s a difficult storm for them,” said Schlotterbeck.

[Update 3/7/2018 5:42 p.m.] The National Weather Service is reporting that Moorestown has received 8 inches of snow.
