The admissions department cancelled an open house for prospective students scheduled for Saturday, January 23, due to prospective inclement weather caused by Winter Storm Jonas. The meeting of school officials that made the decision was held Friday morning at 7:45. “We don’t know how much snow is actually coming,” said Rachel Tilney, director of admissions. She remarked that the school wanted to give plenty of notice to not only perspective families, but also the many student ambassadors who assist with the open house. The large amount of time it takes to clear snow on the campus was also a factor in the decision. Chris Kimberly, associate head of school and academic dean, told WordsWorth he uses a combination of NOAA, Weather Underground, and the township’s official crisis plan when making decisions about whether or not to cancel events such as these. WordsWorth will keep you informed about any plans to reschedule the open house.
