The holiday season is a great time to relax and spend time watching movies with your family. Every year I try to make sure that I watch some of my favorite Christmas movies over the holiday break.

Rudolph, the Rednosed-Reindeer, directed by Larry Roemer, has been a favorite of mine ever since I was really young. There are hundreds of Christmas specials on during the month of December, but this is one you shouldn’t miss. People may say that the stop motion/claymation effects of this movie are goofy and cheesy, but it is hard to deny that this movie a classic.

Frosty the Snowman is another classic Christmas special. Compared to the others I have listed, it’s rather short as it’s only about 25 minutes long. Even though the story of Frosty the Snowman is one that is well known by many people, it’s always good to sit back and relax for about half an hour and enjoy the cheerful short film.

The animated-short film How the Grinch Stole Christmas is also one that all can enjoy. Watching the angry scrooge Grinch transform into the generous, happy character that he becomes is another adventure that’s perfect for your whole family. If you take my advice and watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas, I highly recommend you stick with the animated version and stay away from the from the remake with Jim Carrey.

If you’re in the holiday spirit and looking for a good laugh, I’d recommend National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Much of the movie is slapstick comedy that the entire family can enjoy. This is the third movie in the National Lampoon’s vacation series, but it’s quite different from the others.

Also for the comedy fans, Elf is a must watch. In my opinion, Elf is the best Christmas movie out there. Not only is the film loaded with scenes and quotes, but it tells the interesting and heartwarming story of Buddy the Elf, played by Will Ferrell. The movie is still good no matter how many times you have seen it before.
